Current Calls For Art

The gallery presents three annual exhibitions and 4-5 curated exhibitions each year:

Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition

Waterloo Arts invites all artists residing in the US or Canada to submit artwork to the annual Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition. A new juror is selected each year, and the exhibition is welcomed to the gallery with a public reception during the district’s monthly Walk All Over Waterloo. A small stipend is given to all accepted artists, and over $2,000 in prizes is awarded by local arts organizations.

Applications for the 2021 Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition have ended. Join us in welcoming the CAN Triennial: You Are Here to the gallery in Summer 2022.

The annual DayGloSho is sponsored by the Cleveland-based DayGlo Color Corp. and is a unique exhibit of new work created using the company’s fluorescent pigments. The exhibit is shown in black light and provides for a mesmerizing, magical gallery experience like no other. A great show for all ages!

We are still in the planning stages for the next iteration of the DayGloSho. More information will be posted on our website this winter.

Art of the Ornament

Every winter holiday season, local artists contribute an ornament of their own design to be included in our holiday benefit sale. Prior to the event opening, all contributions are hung in a gallery show to be included in a silent auction the night of the opening celebration. By night’s end, guests retrieve what ornaments they’ve won, the highest bid-upon ornament is announced. All sales benefit Waterloo Arts’ programs and exhibitions.

For artists and musicians interested in participating in our summer festival:

Waterloo Arts Fest

The annual Waterloo Arts Fest is a celebration of the arts for our Collinwood neighborhood and residents throughout the northeast Ohio region. The festival Collinwood’s largest event and each year we partner with hundreds of artists, art and community organizations, and musicians to create an art extravaganza with up to 10 stages of live music and a plethora of visual art to view, make and take. The event is free and open to the public and we program the event with engaging hands-on activities for participants of all ages.

Applications for the 2021 Waterloo Arts Fest have ended. Check back in Spring/Summer 2022 to get involved with the next Fest!

To Submit an Exhibition Proposal:

The gallery at Waterloo Arts is curated by a volunteer committee of professional artists. The overarching mission of the Exhibition Committee is to make accessible, contemporary art and socially responsive models of art practice, reflecting the highest professional standards. The number of exhibitions varies from year to year with a certain number of shows originating from programming objectives and/or independent curation. For remaining exhibition blocks, the Committee welcomes all proposals – performance, installation, social practices, object-based, etc. – representing contemporary creative practices. There are no restrictions on who can apply. Please follow the below guidelines carefully for consideration by the committee.
