Art of the Ornament

Each year, dozens of local artists contribute an ornament of their own design to be displayed and auctioned off as part of Waterloo Arts’ end-of-year fundraiser. This year, the ornaments will be available to bid upon in a virtual auction hosted through BetterWorld online auctions. Near the end of the sale on Friday, December 2nd, Waterloo Arts’ cafe space will be decked out to welcome guests to mingle, marvel, and to place their final bids on their favorite creations, and to celebrate the winter season over food and drink. By night’s end, the winning bidders will be announced, and we will thank our participating artists by awarding locally-focused prizes.

Auction link will be posted here on November 18th.

TO DONATE AN ORNAMENT:

All artists residing in Northeast Ohio are welcome to contribute to Art of the Ornament by making and donating a one-of-a-kind ornament that can comfortably hang from a tree branch. Keep size and weight in mind— no saggy branches here! We suggest making a sturdy ornament that can fit in the palm of your hand. Ornaments must also have a means to hang when you drop them off. At auction, all ornament bids start at $10.

To submit your donation in person, please pre-register your donation by submitting your contact information and (optional) title of the ornament at this link. You may leave your donation with the gallery attendant during open gallery hours on Thurs, Fri, or Sat from 12-4pm. Ornaments are due by Saturday, November 12th.

To submit your donation by mail, postmark it by Nov. 8th and send it to:

Waterloo Arts
attn: Art of the Ornament

Please be sure to have pre-registered your donation at this link. If your name is not included on your return address label, please include it in the package.

FOR ATTENDEES

See the show and place your final bids on Friday, December 2nd from 6-9pm! We hope to share a wonderful time over wintery, warm snacks and drink. Since BetterWorld online auctions require that bidders create an account before bidding, we recommend that you complete this step prior to attending the event. This event is open to the public.

We are grateful to our community for supporting this annual event. Proceeds from the Art of the Ornament auction help to fund the upcoming year’s programs and exhibitions. To learn more about Waterloo Arts’ scope and programs, browse our website, Instagram, and Facebook pages!
