Art of the Ornament

Each year, dozens of local artists contribute an ornament of their own design to be displayed and auctioned off as part of Waterloo Arts’ end-of-year fundraiser. In 2021, Waterloo Arts will host an in-person celebration in the Waterloo Arts cafe space on Friday, December 3rd from 6:00pm-9:00pm. We will welcome guests to mingle, marvel, bid on the silent auction items, and take home their winnings at the end of the night.

To make this event a success, we must first rely on the generous donations of one-of-a-kind creations by artists residing in NEO. If you’re interested in crafting an ornament for this year’s event, or in purchasing an ornament made by a local artist, read on!

FOR ARTISTS:

All artists residing in Northeast Ohio are welcome to contribute to Art of the Ornament by making and donating a one-of-a-kind ornament that can comfortably hang from a tree branch. Please keep size, weight, and hanging fixtures in mind! Ornaments must be hang-ready, and a donation form must be filled out before dropping off on November 20th or 21st from 12-3pm.

Ornaments may also be submitted by mail to:
Waterloo Arts
attn: Art of the Ornament
15605 Waterloo Road
Cleveland, OH 44110

Ornaments will start at a $10 minimum bid. All donating artists will be entered into a raffle to win one of several locally-focused raffle packages.

FOR ATTENDEES

This year’s auction will take place virtually, so folks can choose to bid from home or in person! The auction link will be posted on our website, Instagram, and Facebook the week of the event.

If you’d like to celebrate with us in-person, plan to visit us on Friday, December 3rd from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Waterloo Arts (15605 Waterloo Road). All are welcome to attend, though vaccination cards or negative test results must be presented upon entry. Guests will enter through the gallery, be invited to peruse the Waterloo Arts Holiday Co-Op booths, check out this year’s ornaments in the cafe space, and log into the online auction via QR code to bid on their favorites! Winning bidders will take home their ornament at the end of the night.

To help us promote this event, please share the event flyer far and wide! Your support is deeply appreciated and will make for a plentiful and festive event.
