2017 Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition

JUROR: Anderson Turner, Director, School of Art Collection and Galleries, Kent State University
Anderson Turner received a BFA in sculpture from the University of Arizona and went on to earn an MFA in ceramic art from Kent State University (Ohio). He has served as a technical editor for the American Ceramic Society and the Publications Director for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). He has edited and compiled numerous books as well scholarly journals about ceramic arts. He continues to make and show artwork and maintains a studio at his farm in Garrettsville, Ohio. He currently serves as the Director of the School of Art Collection and Galleries for the Kent State University School of Art and recently added the extra roll of being the Art Critic for the Akron Beacon Journal.

Submission Deadline:  April 9, 2017
Jury Notification:  April 30, 2017
Shipping and Delivery: May 1 to May 20, 2017
Exhibition Opening:  June 2, 2017
14th Waterloo Arts Fest:  June 24, 2017
Exhibition Closing:  July 21, 2017

AWARDS:

CAN Journal Best of Show: $500 and a featured artist profile in the fall issue
Second Best of Show: $250    Honorable Mentions: $100
Brick Ceramic + Design Outstanding Work in Ceramics: $75
Praxis Fiber Workshop Outstanding Work in Fiber: $75
The Sculpture Center Outstanding Work in Sculpture: $75

RULES OF ENTRY:

Artists must be at least 18 years of age and reside in the US or Canada
Artist may submit up to three (3) pieces of original art in any two-dimensional or three-dimensional media
Time based, electronic media, performance art, and installations will NOT be accepted.
Work exceeding 36 inches in any dimension may be excluded due to space restrictions
Work may not exceed seventy pounds in weight
All work must have been executed within the last 5 years and not previously shown at Waterloo Arts
Entries must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition to be eligible for awards
Artists must grant permission for Waterloo Arts to use their images and information in promotional materials

FEES:  $30: non-refundable fee for up to three pieces
ENTRY PROCESS: 

All entries must be submitted electronically through Entrythingy.com. Entry fees will be made through PayPal during the submission process.
