NOTE: This page was edited on Friday, Nov. 11th, 2022. There will no longer be an online auction! The in-person auction will now take place at Waterloo Arts on Friday, Dec. 16th from 6-8pm. Updated information below.
Each year, dozens of local artists contribute an ornament of their own design to be displayed and auctioned off as part of Waterloo Arts’ end-of-year fundraiser. After two years of online auctions, the in-person auction returns! On Friday, December 16th, Waterloo Arts’ cafe space will be decked out to welcome guests to mingle, marvel, and to place their bids on their favorite creations. By night’s end, the winning bidders will take home their ornaments, and we will thank our participating artists by awarding locally-focused prizes.
Prior to the ornament auction, on Friday, December 2nd, Waterloo Arts will host a live makers’ session to demonstrate DIY holiday decorating techniques. Tie a garland, fashion an ornament, and take home a greeting card to set sail on the final push towards the holidays!
TO DONATE AN ORNAMENT:
All artists residing in Northeast Ohio are welcome to contribute to Art of the Ornament by making and donating a one-of-a-kind ornament that can comfortably hang from a tree branch. Keep size and weight in mind— no saggy branches here! We suggest making a sturdy ornament that can fit in the palm of your hand. Ornaments must also have a means to hang when you drop them off. At auction, all ornament bids start at $10.
To submit your donation in person, please pre-register your donation by submitting your contact information and (optional) title of the ornament at this link. Beginning Nov. 26th, you may leave your ornament donation with the gallery attendant during open Holiday Co-Op hours on Thurs, Sat, or Sun from 11-4pm, and Fri 11-8pm. Ornaments are due by 4pm on Sunday, December 11th.
To submit your donation by mail, postmark it by Dec. 8th and send it to:
attn: Art of the Ornament
15605 Waterloo Road
Cleveland, OH 44110
Please be sure to have pre-registered your donation at this link. If your name is not included on your return address label, please include it in the package.
See the show and place your bids in-person on Friday, December 16th from 6-8pm! We hope to share a wonderful time over wintery, warm snacks and drink. This event is open to the public.
We are grateful to our community for supporting this annual event. Proceeds from the Art of the Ornament auction help to fund the upcoming year’s programs and exhibitions. To learn more about Waterloo Arts’ scope and programs, browse our website, Instagram, and Facebook pages!
