Green Up and Clean Up

Join us for a fun volunteer day creating a greener, cleaner community for everyone to enjoy. We need your help to raise the Green Roof on Waterloo Arts and clean up the District in preparation for the 18th annual Waterloo Arts Fest on September 11.

Thanks to a grant from the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, Waterloo Arts received funding to install a green roof on the second story of the art center in order to reduce the stress on Cleveland’s combined sewer district, mitigate urban heat island effects and improve air quality. The sedum plant trays will arrive on Saturday, August 28, and we need to put the plants in place so they can start doing their job. Don’t worry, you don’t have to get on the roof to help out. We need folks on the ground to help load trays onto the lift, too. Other volunteers are needed throughout the District to pick up trash, weed and mulch garden beds and help assemble a storage shed to house District garden tools.

We will provide tools, guidance, sunscreen and lunch. All we need is YOU! Afterwards, we’ll celebrate with refreshments and music in the Blue Windmill garden.

Meet at the Tower Stage in front of Waterloo Arts (15605 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, OH 44110) If you have any questions, email Amy Callahan at info@waterlooarts.org or call 216-692-9500. Thank you!!

Hello. I just bought a home in North Collinwood. I am thrilled to read about the arts and gardening and a green roof. I retired from the EPA, where among other things I physically helped install and worked on a green roof. So it’s refreshing to read about a green roof in The Arts District. I have a reasonably good history of volunteering (eg. https://www.sustainableeiber.org/) and wish to be involved in my new community.
