Artist and poet Cindy Washabaugh is hosting an exciting creative arts program, funded by the Institute for Poetic Medicine, throughout the Collinwood neighborhood. Who we are, Where we live is a multi-faceted program designed to give voice to the residents of our diverse community. For some, stories and memories of life and work in Collinwood date back to the 1940’s and before. For others, these memories and stories are just beginning to unfold. Together, they tell the larger story of a place that has endured through hard times and good times, a place where people still live, raise families, make art, run businesses, and go to school. Our work will then be gathered in an anthology booklet, along with other pieces created in “Who we are, Where we live” writing workshops to be held at the Slovenian Workmen’s Home and Collinwood Recreation Center.
Saturday, Oct. 17, 1 pm to 4:30 pm
Location: Waterloo Arts

What a beautiful inspiring project! I love the combination of words, memories, and spirit flags. Reminds me that November is such a good time for this- many cultures engaging in Days of Remembrance, All Souls Day, etc. This inspires me to think about my own community and neighborhoods that would be so uplifted by such events. Thank you and best wishes!
