With help from the Local 4 Music Fund and the Music Performance Trust Fund, Arts Collinwood has turned its chamber music experiment into a continuing series. Launched in memory of Arts Collinwood benefactor Miles Kennedy, Music for Miles concerts will be performed monthly during the season. And the current season will start – literally – with a bang.
An added pleasure is the cup of tea with scones (or the glass of wine with nibbles) served at 3 pm for a modest charge. The concerts are free, thanks to additional support from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture and the Arts Collinwood Friends Committee.
Duo Anime’s Andrew Pongracz and Mell Csicsila performed together while they were students at CSU, notably as part of the university’s contingent to the 1993 Odenwald Festspiele in Gras-Ellenbach, Germany.Since graduating, they’ve worked with artists like Aretha Franklin, Yes, Kansas, Gary Puckett, Dennis DeYoung, Charo and many of the region’s major performing groups — including as the principal chairs of Carl Topilow’s Cleveland Pops, the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, Playhouse Square Theater Orchestra, Lyric Opera Cleveland, and the Erie, Fort Wayne, Youngstown, Wheeling, and Mansfield Symphonies.Their professional chamber duo is a regular performer for the Cleveland Orchestra’s “Musical Rainbow” concerts, and performs for and with the Cleveland Composers Guild, the CSU Chorale — and now Arts Collinwood.
The M4M season will continue with Amphion’s Strings Quartet (Sunday October 14), Silver Keys clarinet quartet (Sunday November 11) and a seasonal piano performance at Arts Collinwood’s much loved Holiday Sale (Sunday December 9 – there are rumors of a Teddy Bear’s tea party).
