Metal Pour Demo + Artist Talk: Hannah Bates on Sunday, April 3rd; 1-3pm

Join us at Waterloo Arts (15605 Waterloo Road) at 1pm on Sunday, April 3rd for a sand casting and aluminum pour demonstration by Hannah Bates. Following the demonstration, we will move to the gallery where Hannah will speak about her studio practice and current exhibition, Among. For those who cannot attend in person, the gallery talk will be streamed on Instagram live (@waterlooarts) at 1:45pm and a recording will be made available on YouTube.

Visiting details:
The aluminum pour will take place outdoors in the gravel parking lot behind the Waterloo Arts building, accessible by E. 156th Street. Visitors will be asked to remain a safe 8ft from the furnace during the demonstration. The artist talk will include seating inside the gallery. Hannah Bates is an artist based in Cleveland, OH. Her work in glass, wood, and metal explores the fluid boundaries between the body, raw materials, and the natural world. She received an MFA in the Craft/Material Studies department at Virginia Commonwealth University and a BFA in Fine Arts at Columbus College of Art and Design. Hannah has taught within glass programs at VCU and Kent State University. She was an artist in residence at ACRE residency, chaNorth, and Sculpture Space. Hannah has exhibited at RoyGBiv in Columbus, OH and Heaven Gallery in Chicago. She recently received the Satellite Fund administered by SPACES in Cleveland, OH to complete a solo exhibition in Spring 2022.
