Lindsay Martin Gryskewich, m, Jennifer Masley: “Interior Landscapes”; June 2 – July 22 in main gallery

Interior Landscapes

Lindsay Martin Gryskewich, m, Jennifer Masley

Public Reception: June 2nd, 2023, 6-9PM

Artists’ Walk-Thru: July 7th, 2023, 7PM

Merging three very different practices together for “Interior Landscapes,” Masley, m, and Martin Gryskewich explore meanings of internal space.

Lindsay Martin Gryskewich’s paintings explore space, color, pattern and materiality as the artist retraces influential domestic surroundings of backyards, rooms, and the great outdoors. “I am interested in how we spatially orient ourselves and wander through the sites of our lives. Place is a fluid illusion: both general and detailed, permanent and temporary. Painting emerges as material amalgamation of the body’s translations of memory.“ (IG: @lindsaygryskewich)

The central core to m’s work revolves around m’s shadow, and cues that are added to define one’s identity. Visually exemplified in layers, m explores the difference between his identity portrayed to the world and the image he has of himself; artifice versus inner dialogue. (IG: @m.boy.coy)

Jennifer Masley’s work describes her experience of processing the internal and external world around her. Masley considers her physical relationship with her fabricated versions of the domestic space, and through this, creates surreal sculptural compositions that connect the familiar with the strange and inject her personalized memories to things that may come off as generic. (IG: @jennifermasleyclay)
