“Nomads”, paintings by William M. Newhouse*
On view at Arts Collinwood Gallery
Friday, August 10 – September 2, 2012
Opening Reception – Friday, August 10, 6pm-9pm
A 1999 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, William Newhouse makes exquisitely crafted paintings and drawings in the tradition of Renaissance masters. His playful, homoerotic subject matter frequently belies conventional expectations of portraiture and provides a distinctly contemporary counterpoint to his use of long-established techniques.
Born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Newhouse currently lives and works in Chicago. He held a solo exhibition at the William Busta Gallery in Cleveland in 2008 and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Cleveland and Chicago over the past decade.
Check out www.waterlooarts.org on August 9th to see a clip of this show being installed while artists Dan Tranberg and Timothy Callaghan talk with the artist about his works.
