Anitra Frazier, “Back in the Day”; Feb 3rd – March 5th in auxiliary gallery

Back in the Day
Anitra Frazier
Opening reception: February 3rd, 2023, 6-9pm

In this series of paintings, Frazier draws inspiration from her father’s decades-old Pentax film photographs. Faded yellows, greens, and the lighting effects of harsh camera flash come through in the paintings, and the children’s clothing styles date the images in a pre-21st century time. Each scene– some embellished with a haze of glitter– preserve and celebrate a joyful, lighthearted time spent in loving company of friends and family.

Back in the Day opens concurrently with I Paint Houses on Friday, February 3rd at Waterloo Arts Gallery (15605 Waterloo Rd) between 6-9pm. Following the opening reception, both exhibitions will be open to visit on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12pm-4pm, and by appointment on weekdays. To request an appointment, email gallery@waterlooarts.org or call 216.692.9500.
