2020 Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition

Waterloo Arts invites all artists residing in the US or Canada to submit artwork for the 2020 Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition. This is a unique opportunity for artists to exhibit work in Cleveland, Ohio.  As in previous years, the Juried Exhibition will take place in three locations in the Waterloo Arts District: Waterloo Arts Gallery, Praxis Fiber Workshop and Brick Ceramic + Design.  Artists will also receive substantial exposure during the district’s largest community event, The Waterloo Arts Fest, welcoming more than 5,000 attendees.  This is the sixth year Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition has coincided with the Waterloo Arts Fest and the fourth year that accepted work will be exhibited in three different spaces on Waterloo Road.  As in past years, Waterloo Arts will also offer a small stipend to all accepted artist to help defray costs associated with entry and shipping.

Application Deadline:  April 5, 2020
Jury Notification:  On or around May 1, 2020
Delivery: Between May 1 and May 17, 2020
Shipping: Beginning May 1
Exhibition Opening:  June 5, 2020
Waterloo Arts Fest:  June 27, 2020
Exhibition Closing:  July 25, 2020

Best of Show: $500
Second Best of Show: $250   
Honorable Mentions: $100
NEOH Artist CAN Journal Prize: Cash Prize $250 and Artist feature article in CAN Journal*
Brick Ceramic + Design Prize: $150
Praxis Fiber Workshop Prize: $150
tap Prize for Wearable Art: $150
Waterloo Arts Trustee Prize for Painting/Illustration: $150
Zygote Press Prize for Printmaking: $150
Outstanding Work in Sculpture: $150
Outstanding Work in Paper: $150
All Accepted Artists Will Receive $25 Honorarium**

RULES OF ENTRY:

Artists must be at least 18 years of age and reside in the US or Canada
Artist may submit up to three (3) pieces of original art in any two-dimensional or three-dimensional media
All work must have been executed within the last 5 years and not previously shown at Waterloo Arts
Time based, electronic media, performance art, and installations will NOT be accepted.
Work exceeding 36 inches in any dimension may be excluded due to space restrictions
Work may not exceed seventy pounds in weight
Artists are responsible for the cost of delivery and/or shipping and must arrange for return shipping via prepaid shipping labels
*Entries must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition to be eligible for awards
*Only artists residing in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Portage, Geauga or Lake counties of Ohio eligible for the CAN Journal Prize
**Artists who receive another cash award will not receive an additional honorarium
Artists must grant permission for Waterloo Arts to use their images and information in promotional materials

FEES:  $30: non-refundable fee for up to three pieces

All entries must be submitted electronically through Entrythingy.com. Entry fees will be made through PayPal during the submission process. Waterloo Arts would like to thank every artist for submitting their work to past exhibits. We were extremely pleased with the overwhelming response to the 2019 call. The juror, Anthony Mastromatteo was tasked with reviewing 604 pieces from 216 different artists and choosing 86 pieces from 77 artists.  Approximately one third of all entering artists had a piece selected. We appreciate the time invested by artists in applying to the exhibition. Waterloo Arts is dedicated to exploring new opportunities to expand the number of pieces that we can accept in the future.
