COVID-19 UPDATE – NEW ENTRY DEADLINE – MAY 10, 2020: Waterloo Arts is proceeding with an online exhibition and a physical exhibition later. Once Waterloo Arts has resumed operations, we will hang the accepted work and have a physical opening where we will award the cash prizes. If the accepted work is no longer available for the physical exhibition, we will work with the artists to substitute similar pieces.
We are pleased to announce our 2020 JUROR: Arnold Tunstall, Director, Myers School of Art, at the University of Akron.
Waterloo Arts invites all artists residing in the US or Canada to submit artwork for the 2020 Waterloo Arts Juried Exhibition. This is a unique opportunity for artists to exhibit work in Cleveland, Ohio. As in previous years, we plan for the Juried Exhibition to take place in three locations in the Waterloo Arts District: Waterloo Arts Gallery, Praxis Fiber Workshop and Brick Ceramic + Design – rescheduling permitting.

2020 JUROR: Arnold Tunstall
Director, University Galleries at Myers School of Art, at the University of Akron. Tunstall has worked for the Akron Art Museum in various curatorial positions since 1985 and served as the Collections Manager and Registrar from 1994 – 2016. Tunstall is active in the regional arts community by exhibiting his own artwork and is on the board of directors of SPACES gallery and The Akron Soul Train and is active in the regional arts community by exhibiting his own artwork. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Akron majoring in Graphic Design and Photography, he received his Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Ohio University. He has been an adjunct instructor at the Myers School of Art since 1995 and for the last several years, has been teaching in the Arts Administration program.
RULES OF ENTRY:
Artists must be at least 18 years of age and reside in the US or Canada
Artist may submit up to three (3) pieces of original art in any two-dimensional or three-dimensional media
All work must have been executed within the last 5 years and not previously shown at Waterloo Arts
Time based, electronic media, performance art, and installations will NOT be accepted.
Work exceeding 36 inches in any dimension may be excluded due to space restrictions
Work may not exceed seventy pounds in weight
Artists are responsible for the cost of delivery and/or shipping and must arrange for return shipping via prepaid shipping labels
*Entries must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition to be eligible for awards
*Only artists residing in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Portage, Geauga or Lake counties of Ohio eligible for the CAN Journal Prize
**Artists who receive another cash award will not receive an additional honorarium
Artists must grant permission for Waterloo Arts to use their images and information in promotional materials
FEES: $30: non-refundable fee for up to three pieces
All entries must be submitted electronically through Entrythingy.com. Entry fees will be made through PayPal during the submission process. Waterloo Arts would like to thank every artist for submitting their work to past exhibits. We were extremely pleased with the overwhelming response to the 2019 call. The juror, Anthony Mastromatteo was tasked with reviewing 604 pieces from 216 different artists and choosing 86 pieces from 77 artists. Approximately one third of all entering artists had a piece selected. We appreciate the time invested by artists in applying to the exhibition. Waterloo Arts is dedicated to exploring new opportunities to expand the number of pieces that we can accept in the future.
