DAYGLO IV BRIGHTENS CLEVELAND WINTER
The fourth annual DayGlo exhibit runs through December at Waterloo Arts Gallery
The annual DayGlo show brings a whole new meaning to the gallery term “going dark”. For years local artists have been creating work for a show that highlights the bioluminescent medium DayGlo paint and the tradition continues with the opening of the fourth gallery show on Friday, December 4 at 6 PM. This show is the brain child of Dr. Theresa Boyd and John Saile and has been garnering enthusiastic support since its inception in 2012.
“In June of 2012 I was invited to exhibit at Doubting Thomas Gallery by Dr. Theresa Boyd. I had been experimenting with DayGlo paint for some time and decided to do a small showing of my work in black light. Dr. Theresa was delighted with this dimension of my exhibit and asked me to curate a DayGlo show in the month of December, arguably the darkest month of the year. The annual show has been great fun for Cleveland artists ever since.” – John Saile
The growing event has changed locations in order to accommodate a larger body of work and will be held at Waterloo Arts this year. We welcome the show to the east side and despite the change in venue the show highlights many talented artists from all over the city. Stop by to support local art and to chat with the artists about the complexities of working with a bioluminescent medium. This opening coincides with the December Walk All Over Waterloo, so attendees will have an opportunity to visit many galleries and artist studios as well as shop for holiday gifts in one visit to Collinwood. DayGlo 4 will close on January 1st, so don’t miss your opportunity to view this unusual show.
