This class is for young, aspiring cartoonists, designed to introduce and develop a diverse set of skills around this eclectic medium.  Students will work individually and collaboratively to develop their own characters and stories.  We will explore a variety of media – including colored pencil, watercolor, markers, pen and ink and scratchboard.  Students will also be introduced to the nature and history of cartooning – with a specific focus on Cleveland’s influential cartooning professionals. Josh Usmani is a Cleveland-based artist, writer, instructor and curator. He has taught cartooning classes since 2013 at venues such as the Cleveland Institute of Art, Campus International School, SPACES and the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.
