Photo Internship

 

Internship Opportunity:
Gallery & Event Photographer or Videographer

Waterloo Arts is seeking out photography and video interns to document gallery and public events. Interns must be skilled in photography or video and preferably are seeking a photography or video degree or are a recent fine arts graduate. Students must have access to their own professional camera and photo equipment. Camera phones and low quality digital cameras will not be permitted for use during this internship.

This is a great opportunity to expand your portfolio to include more commercial and special events images. All photos and video taken during the internship will be property of Waterloo Arts, but may be utilized by the intern in their professional portfolio.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years course work or professional photo and video experience
  • BFA/BA or MFA/MA photography and video or fine arts student OR recent graduate ofone of those programs
  • Proficiency posting images to social media platforms and websites
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to represent Waterloo Arts in a professional manner and be affable andrespectful to patrons

Responsibilities:

  • 10 to 20 hours per week commitment (dependent upon gallery schedule)
  • Internships will last approximately 4 months (one semester) and will be available 3 timesper year (fall, spring, summer)
  • Taking photos or video of gallery exhibits, artist talks and special events
  • Uploading images into Dropbox to be utilized by Waterloo Arts marketing committee
  • Posting images on social media and website

Compensation:

  • Unpaid internship, but current students may receive credit towards a degree, in accordance with your school’s policy
  • Midway through and at the end of the internship a professional photographer will meet with you to review your work and provide feedback
