Marketing Internship

Internship Opportunity:
Marketing Intern at Waterloo Arts

Waterloo Arts is seeking out a marketing intern to promote gallery and public events on our social media and website. Interns must be skilled in marketing and preferably are working towards a marketing degree or are a recent graduate. Students must have access to their own computer and smart phone, as a necessity to work remotely and post on sites such as instagram, which is only supported as an app. In addition to writing, this internship will require that you produce original, visual content such as photos and/or video.

This is a great opportunity to work with a successful arts organization and to learn more about the complexities of marketing for a nonprofit. All content created during the internship will be property of Waterloo Arts, but may be utilized by the intern in their professional portfolio.

  • Familiarity with Search Engine Optimization and ability to implement practices to improve internet visibility
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to represent Waterloo Arts in a professional manner and be affable and respectful to patrons
  • Familiarity with Word Press and design programs is not required, but is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • 10 to 20 hours per week commitment (dependent upon gallery schedule)
  • Internships will last approximately 4 months (one semester) and will be available 3 times per year (fall, spring, summer)
  • Creating compelling, original content- visual and written
  • Upkeep of social media accounts and website (Word Press)

Compensation:

  • Unpaid internship, but current students may receive credit towards a degree, in accordance with your school’s policy
  • Midway through and at the end of the internship, you will be provided feedback on your work
