M4M Concert, Sunday October 12

Sunday, October 12
4pm in the Gallery
Around the World with Amethyst
String Quartet

A trip round the world with the magical strings of the Amethyst Quartet, led by a vivacious first violinist, Mary Beth Ions. Carol Ruzicka plays second violin; Alexandra Vago viola; and Linda Atherton, cello. The playlist includes music from various countries: Gypsy music from Hungary, Italian Opera selections/Bocelli’s Time to say Goodbye, a tune from The Godfather, Irish selections including Danny Boy and lively Celtic tunes, good old American favorites including Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Fiddler on the Roof, Phantom of the Opera – and if that’s not enough, the players will leave time at the end of the program for requests.

Martha Triozza’s “Oleander” show in the gallery will provide an eminently suitable colorful background for listening to the music. And the Callaloo Café will be open, so that concert-goers can refresh themselves with a little something – or fill themselves up after, with a traditional Trinidadian Sunday lunch.

Music for Miles concerts always start at 4 pm on the second Sunday of the month, and are always free, thanks to support from Local 4 Music Fund, the Music Performance Trust Fund, the Waterloo Arts Friends Committee, Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, and Ohio Arts Council.
