The latest iteration of singer/songwriter Jim Gill finds him joined by accomplished fiddle player Cathy Miller. The two met at a concert in July of 2010 and have been performing together ever since. Cathy brings a wealth of talent and expertise to Jim’s music. Her adept fretwork, and their combined stunning vocal harmonies, are reaping praise from audiences all over Ohio. Over the course of a music career that began in 2001, Jim Gill has shared stages with notable artists as varied as John Gorka at The Village Folk Festival, Peter Mulvey at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Tommy James and The Shondells at The Ritz Theatre in Tiffin, Ohio and Mary Gauthier as part of the Six String Concerts series staged in the Columbus Performing Arts Center which plays host to the top acoustic folk and roots artists in the country. Jim has also enjoyed performances with local Ohio stars like Michael Stanley,Alex Bevan, Zach, Carlos Jones, Kate Voegele and Michael Doc Dreyfuss to name just a few.

About Cathy Miller

Cathy is performing exclusively with the extremely talented singer/songwriter Jim Gill. They primarily play original music in the folk/rock vein, and perform all across Northeast and Central Ohio.

She is a former member of the progressive rock band Uzizi, combining centuries-old sacred harp singing with a modern 5-piece band. Cathy was a founding member of Los Angeles-based Pushing Air, and played fiddle in the bluegrass bands Taproot and The Crooked River Fire Brigade.

Past performances include  The Chieftains (traditional Irish), Mo’ Mojo (zydeco),  as well as playing for three seasons in The Huntsville Symphony.

She is a versatile artist, able to teach and perform folk, classical, Irish, blues, bluegrass, Scottish, and jazz styles. In recent years, she has performed at all manner of functions including bookings with various bands, studio recording, ceilidhs, weddings, funerals, corporate functions, classical orchestral concerts, and old-time ice cream socials.

Cathy studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music and is a graduate of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She studied with John Kochanowski, Kathryn Plummer and members of the Blair String Quartet. She has been teaching private violin, viola and fiddle lessons in the Cleveland, Ohio area for the last sixteen years.
